Buddhism 101- A friend of the World

This feature class with Kelsang Lekchog covers a wide range of engaging topics.
Many people wish to benefit others and fulfil their compassionate wishes, but few  understand fully how to fulfil their wish.

A bodhisattva is someone who thinks if everyone as a friend and through their good heart works to alleviate the suffering of the world and give back loving kindness. It is an altruistic mind but possible for us all to accomplish with this the correct methods.
During this series of classes we will be exploring the bodhisattvas way if life which entails six very special practice called the six perfections; giving, moral discipline, patience, effort , concentration and wisdom. This series is suitable for anyone who wants to improve themselves through developing such qualities.

Buddhism and Buddhist meditation helps us to develop the skills to lead a peaceful, happy, and meaningful life. In this series of classes we explore different aspects of Buddhist wisdom that can help us keep a positive mind in daily life. This is because Buddha’s Teachings are scientific methods to solve our problems permanently. When we put his teachings into practice we gain mastery over our negative minds, such as anger, anxiety, worry and depression.

You do not need to be a Buddhist to attend these Buddhist meditation classes and they are attended by people from all walks of life. The classes include two guided meditations and a talk that relates to the basic teachings of Kadampa Buddhism.

This is a practical based course where practices and methods will be explained enabling you to establish the internal tools to bring about positive inner transformation. Each session will include a combination of teachings and meditation. Suitable for beginners and everyone welcome.

  • You must wear a mask by law - unless exempt

If you are ill

Please protect others by not coming into the centre.

If you are under the weather for any reason, our online classes and/or courses may be ideal for your needs.

Only use the main front door and the toilet nearest to it. We are unable to offer our accessible toilet and baby changing at the moment.

There is a limit on how many people can be in the Meditation Room together, so you will need to book in advance. You will asked to provide contact details for test and trace purposes.

Social Distancing/ Keeping Everyone Safe

  • You must wear a mask in the building - Unless you are exempt
  • When you arrive, please wash your hands in accordance with Government guidelines, and dry them using the paper towels or use the hand sanitiser provided.
  • Please maintain a physical distance of 2 metres, from everyone else in the building.
  • The chairs have been set out in the Meditation Room so that everyone is 2m metre apart, and no-one is directly facing anyone else. Please don’t move the chairs
  • We play the Liberating Prayer during our classes. No-one may sing.
